IMPORTANT
There are several websites that offer to book your theory test, but generally these charge very high fees to book it for you, and in some instances, they are complete 'scam' websites that will just take your money without even booking you a test. Always use the official site to book, on the governments own "gov.uk" website, or by following the link above.
The current fee for a UK theory Test is £23.00, and you will need your provisional driving licence number, an email address to get your booking confirmation (you can’t book online if you don’t have one), and of course a debit or credit card to pay with.
At Rabs Driving, we take the hassle out of booking your test, as we book it for you! We are DVSA registered to book tests; this way you don't have to worry about instructor/car availability.
The current DVSA fee for the practical test is £62.00 (£75.00 on Saturday or Bank Holiday where available), and Rabs Driving do not charge anything for booking the test for you, it's just all part of the service!
You will take your test in the car that you have been taking your driving lessons in, so you will be comfortable and prepared, and totally familiar with the car.
The actual driving test will start with an eyesight check and some vehicle safety questions. The driving part of your test will last about 40 minutes, including approximately 10 minutes of 'Independant Driving' where you will have to follow a diagram, or more usually road signs. You will also have to perform one of the pre-defined manouvres, and possibly a 'Controlled Stop'.
Throughout the test your examiner will be looking for an overall safe standard of driving; don't worry about being nervous, which is only natural, as the DVSA Driving Examiner will be able to tell the difference between a nervous driver, and one who is not ready.
Rabs Driving will make sure that you are ready for your test, and that YOU know that you are ready, and that you are happy to take your test. We will have 'mock' tests to recreate the 'on the day' experience, so you know what to expect, all as part of the attention to detail we provide.
Rabs Driving currently use a number of different test centres, depending on where the pupil lives, studies or works, however, it is really important not to just try and follow test routes, but to be able to drive anywhere, so when we are teaching, we will use different road layouts and situations from all around the area.
